Mitihoon – True Corporation and NBTC Conduct Inspections in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi, Tightening SIM Registration Measures to Prevent Mobile Numbers from Being Misused for Cybercrime

True Corporation, in collaboration with the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), continues to strengthen measures to prevent technology-related crime by conducting on-site inspections of service centers and authorized dealers. The inspections aim to monitor and assess mobile subscriber registration procedures and ensure strict compliance with regulatory requirements. The inspections are part of the implementation of the NBTC Office’s measures to prevent technology-related crime for telecommunications licensees, which require service providers to ensure that mobile subscriber registration and customer information are accurate and complete. True is fully cooperating by providing information on registration procedures and presenting its robust security systems to support effective regulatory oversight. The company will also use findings and recommendations from the inspections to further enhance its service standards.

During the inspections, Mr. Narupon Rattanasamaharn, Head of Regulatory and Government Affairs Division at True Corporation Plc., together with the True team, joined the NBTC delegation led by Pol. Gen. Dr. Nathathorn Prousoontorn, Commissioner (Legal), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC), along with Mr. Torpong Selanon, Commissioner, NBTC. True provided information and demonstrated its service procedures, enabling the NBTC delegation to observe and inspect actual operations at True Shop, Central Mahachai in Samut Sakhon, as well as service locations in Samut Songkhram and Phetchaburi. The inspections covered identity verification and authentication, mobile number registration, customer data management, and service center operating procedures to ensure that all processes comply with the NBTC’s requirements and measures.

Pol. Gen. Dr. Nathathorn Prousoontorn, Commissioner (Legal), National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission of Thailand (NBTC), said, “These on-site inspections are part of the proactive measures prioritized by the NBTC to ensure that mobile subscriber registration information is accurate, complete and verifiable. Our focus is on reviewing actual operations at service centers and authorized dealers, from identity verification and authentication to mobile number registration and data management, to ensure strict compliance with the requirements established by the NBTC.

“The NBTC will continue to monitor implementation and work closely with mobile operators to strengthen SIM registration processes so that they are standardized, secure and verifiable. Accurate registration is not only a matter of regulatory compliance, but also an important mechanism for reducing opportunities for fraudsters and call-center scam networks to misuse mobile numbers, thereby helping prevent technology-related crimes that cause harm to individuals and the country.”
